Auto major, Tata Motors plans to continue investment in the range of 2,000 crore in its commercial vehicle business going forward annually. Tata Motors is focusing on driving its new product launches. On Monday, the company is setting new benchmarks in India’s fast-growing pickup truck segment with the launch of the Yodha 2.0, Intra V20 bi-fuel and Intra V50. The launch of these new pickups reiterates Tata Motors’ commitment to always empower and equip customers with best-in-class vehicles.

Tata Motors managing director Girish Wagh told reporters on Monday, “At the company’s commercial vehicle level, we have invested around 2,000 crore per annum which includes our investment in internal combustion engines, alternative fuels as well as electric vehicles. We will continue to invest at the same pace to ensure that we continue to come up with new vehicles,” as reported by PTI.

Furthermore, Wagh said the company is increasing its range of alternative fuel vehicles. He told reporters, “we showcased the one-ton CNG-powered vehicle today… a few months ago we had launched the CNG-powered medium and heavy commercial vehicle with a range of 1,000 kilometers… so we is ready to tackle this transition to electrification through alternative fuel.”

The CEO also revealed that Tata Motors expects CNG models to account for about 40% in the mid-size and light commercial vehicle segment, while it expects 20% in small commercial vehicles.

In a statement today, Tata Motors highlighted the Yodha 2.0, Intra V20 bi-fuel and Intra V50. It said, designed and engineered to cater to a wide range of urban and rural applications, the new Yodha 2.0, Intra V20 bi-fuel and Intra V50 are ideal to meet the diverse mobility needs of the fast-growing agriculture, poultry and dairy sectors as well as the growing the delivery requirements for grocery, e-commerce and logistics sectors.

“Each of these pickups offers the lowest total cost of ownership in its category for our customers to earn maximum profits. Tata Motors celebrated the launch of India’s best pickups by delivering 750 of them to customers across the country,” it added.

Launching the new pickups, Wagh said, “Every aspect of these pickups has been carefully engineered to effectively serve a wide range of uses in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. They come with bold new designs and offer maximum payload capacity to transport heavier load; longest deck length to carry voluminous loads; highest power-to-weight ratio, longest range to cover maximum distance; and modern safety and comfort features for stress-free driving.”

He added, “With all-terrain access to reach the most remote locations and the support of India’s largest dealer and service network, the holistic value proposition offered by our extensive range of pickups is unbeatable. The introduction of these new-age pickups reiterates our commitment to always provide and equip customers with best-in-class vehicles to deliver more progress and success.”

Yodha 2.0 offers maximum 2000 kg nominal payload capacity with best-in-class off-road capability. The new Yodha 2.0 can tackle the toughest terrain with ease, ensuring seamless and faster cargo movement in remote parts of the country. The Yodha 2.0 also features an updated design with rugged looks, the Tata signature ‘Trust Bar’ and a sleek grille among other functional upgrades.

The Yodha is also available in 1200, 1500 and 1700 kg rated payload options, comes with 4×4 and 4×2 configurations and is available in single cab and crew cab options enabling customers to choose their ideal model and cab type for their use.

At the same time, the new Intra V50 offers a high nominal load capacity of 1500 kg and the longest deck length. It sets new paradigms in the segment with its high payload capacity, state-of-the-art cabin comfort, longest cargo deck and high ground clearance for worry-free off-road operations in urban and semi-urban areas.

While the Intra V20 is India’s first bi-fuel pickup with a payload of 1000 kg and longest range of 700 km. The V20 is the country’s first dual-fuel (CNG + Petrol) commercial vehicle with a payload of 1000 kg, combining the robustness of the proven Intra V20 capability with the lower running cost of CNG to deliver more value.

On the Tata Ace EV, Wagh said they have started production and deliveries are expected to start next month.

Tata Motors is the country’s leading player in the commercial vehicle segment.

On the BSE, Tata Motors shares closed at 397.65 each down by 6%. The company’s market capitalization is around SEK 1,32,066.53 million.
